Truth Coming Out of Her Well – a #SinfulSunday #ArtTwist

*BLOG UPDATE* This was chosen as a Top 5 image!

Indigo Byrd from Midnight at the Oasis runs an art challenge called Art Twist – this is the first time I’ve participated. This month we’re invited to make art inspired by the work of Jean-Léon Gérôme.

I found this piece called Truth Coming out of Her Well

I thought, oh yeah…

Then I read further and the full title is: Truth coming from the well armed with her whip to chastise mankind.

I thought, oh HELL yeah! I have to do that one 😀

So I’ve given it a shot. The Wiki entry is here.

  1. Oh Tabitha this is incredible. I absolutely love this picture – everything about it. The light, the angle, the contrast and the gorgeous body of course. It works so well for the art twist too 🙂

  2. This is fabulous Tabitha – your pose and expression is perfect! I am so pleased you joined in and with such a fascinating choice of artwork (and title!). I get the feeling Mssr Gerome would have approved as well. xxx

  3. That’s a challenging image to replicate but you’ve most definitely succeeded! And that determined look in your eye…I can tell that mankind is in for some much-needed chastisement.

  4. Amazing. Really wonderful shot. So much going on.
The sub in me wants to have been left, tied as some sort of sacrifice to the beautiful well-creature. It’s delicious.

  5. Bravo Tabitha. Another stunningly creative photo. I hope you didn’t suffer too much for your art as there seem to be some prickly brambles and a few stinging nettles rather too close for comfort.

  6. Wow, wow, wow – love it. The angle, the hair mirroring the plants as though a part of nature and the pose (much more dramatic than the original!).

  7. You never fail to impress me with your fabulous photos and this is another great example. The angle, the light, and always so much movement. You seem to manage to express so much more than we can actually see!

  8. I’m stuck in a place between aroused and terrified as you have a most magnificent body, but I’m reminded of The Ring!

  9. This is something, Tabitha. Well done, your image is more powerful than Jean-Léon’s. I’d not seen that painting, though I’m familiar with that artist. I happened to read Jo’s comment as I was scrolling down and she is right on. Yes, The Ring.

  10. Unreal! The black and white makes it almost creepy. A whole horror movie in one image. So many stories here. I like your interpretation better than the original, and I think you have done an amazing job with the art twist prompt!

  11. This is beyond incredible. I love how we see your eye looking straight at us to give it a slight chilling feel too….WOOOOOWWWWWW!!
