Story behind Awkward Hands

Tabitha Rayne Awkward Hands

About 7 or 8 years ago, in my early thirties I was struck down with viral arthritis. It was the worst pain I’d ever endured. Every bone in my body felt like it was broken and it took a long time to recover.

Recently, I have begun to notice a familiar pain in my wrists and thumbs – a classic point for arthritis. I have taken this photo to today to represent how debilitating this kind of pain and the weakness that comes with it is. Your hands might as well be tied behind your back at times. I’m hoping it will just disappear but at the moment using knives, lifting a cuppa and undoing buttons are all accompanied with a little intake of breath.

So why this for my sexy erotica driven blog? Well, while I was in the midst of the first bout, I could barely pull my knickers off, let alone attend to self-loving. This was one of the reasons I persevered with designing my Ruby Glow (hands-free vibrator) I realised how good it would have been for me at that time in my life.

Now, as I fear it is looming again, at least I know, when it comes to a good old masturbation session, I won’t miss out 😉

Also – the absolute best thing bout being a writer or inventor or any other sort of creative, is that whatever you are going through, part of you somewhere is rubbing its hands in glee and storing the experience away for future use.

Funny how things come full circle.

Thank you for reading on! If you suffer from arthritis pain I would like to recommend Arthritis Recovery – this lady is amazing and cured her rheumatoid arthritis through diet and cider vinegar.

If you struggle with mobility and masturbation, may I recommend my Ruby Glow saddle style vibrator. Called ‘revolutionary for disabled users’ by Tracey Cox and featured on This Morning and Good Housekeeping vibrator reviews.

  1. Wonderful picture and post. I have some arthritis and when it flares, my masturbation comes at a painful cost – especially as I tend to grins down hard.

I really hope yours stays at bay.

  2. You have very nice hands, and a beautiful backside, as well. Thank you for the back story, too.

    1. Thank you so much. I always thought my bum was too flat, too this, too that – blah blah – but now I’m getting older, I don’t have the time to look back in ten years and say, ‘your butt wasn’t so bad, why didn’t you take photos of it and put them on a blog?’ 😀 😀

  3. The elegance of your hands are at odds with the words below. I find your positive attitude to this horrible disease very inspiring.

    1. Thank you so much lovely Clear Eyed Girl x x – it’s having a curious mind isn’t it? I know your blog and we all use things like this to write about, don’t we. We’re lucky x x x

    1. Like I said to Molly – I think you’ve all banished it with your lovely comments. It was a short term blip – hooray! back to almost normal now x x

  4. So sorry to hear that you’re in pain; the Ruby Glow is a genius way to get around the need to use your hands! This is a gorgeous picture. The focus is on your hands, but I can’t stop staring at your shoulders!

  5. It’s entirely in character that you’ve managed to create beautiful (and fucking sexy) art out of a complex and difficult life situation. It’s one of many reasons why you’re awesome!

  6. You are far too young and fit and firm for this dreadful affliction, but I know how it is, as I have a touch of it too. Wonderful picture and heartfelt story! xoxo

    1. Thank you Molly – actually, I’m delighted to say, it hasn’t gone on to be a full blown attack! Yay! I think all of your lovely comments have helped. THe power of positive thought x x x

  7. Arthritis is a terrible thing, it has crippled my own mother who has been left old beyond her years. Hopefully this post will help others in a similar situation.

  8. Hi,

Sorry to hear about your health issues. Wow.

Good luck with the treatment and have a Happy New Year.

  9. Thanks for this post Tabitha. I’ve noted the reference to sex toy design on your header when looking at your erotica and only just got around to investigating further (only need a firm shove to do something). I am in my 60’s and on my own and at the moment everything seems to involve using my hands and arms. I’m at the point where I need to investigate a voice operated typing system since blogging is really creating havoc with my fingers wrists and shoulders – to say nothing of hips, knees and my right side big toe which was broken back in the 80’s. Constant typing coupled with frequent use of toys for masturbation makes life very painful at times. All this is a long winded way of saying I think the Ruby Glow looks amazing and I may have to break my resolution to not spend money on toys in 2018. I’ll certainly investigate whether Lovehoney or any of the other local companies have it in stock.

ll I’m also including this post in my #SoSS feature this weekend.

    1. Thank you so much Indigo – sorry for the late reply, I’m sorry you have sore bits all over – I think nagging pain can really affect libido – if it’s going to hurt when we masturbate or have sex, it can put us off a bit. thank you for your lovely words about Ruby Glow, if you’re coming to Eroticon there will be really good discounts there! x x x
